Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Dehradun to Wan Village (315 km, 10–11 hrs)

Your journey begins with a long but scenic drive from Dehradun to Wan Village. The route takes you through the spiritual town of Rishikesh, the bustling hub of Karnaprayag, and the serene landscapes of Lohajung.

Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers, dense forests, and charming Himalayan villages. As you climb higher towards Wan, the air turns crisp and refreshing.

On arrival at Wan Village (8,200 ft), check into a guesthouse or campsite. After the long drive, relax, enjoy a hearty dinner, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Stay: Guesthouse/Campsite in Wan Village

Day 2 – Wan Village to Bedni Bugyal via Ghaeroli Patal (12 km, 7–8 hrs)

After breakfast, begin your trek from Wan Village towards Bedni Bugyal. The trail climbs through dense oak and rhododendron forests, crossing the beautiful Neel Ganga river.

Bedni Bugyal is a vast green meadow beautified by varieties of flowers, offering stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. This is one of the most scenic campsites on the entire trek.

Stay: Camping at Bedni Bugyal

Day 3 – Bedni Bugyal to Bhagwabasa (12 km, 6–7 hrs)

Today you will behold the unbeatable beauty of a wide range of snow-capped Himalayan peaks such as Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, Chaukhamba, Kedardome, and Nilkantha. The trail passes through Pathar Nachauni, which is a short climb away.

Kalu Vinayak Temple is located at the foot of the hill. From there, a gradual descent leads to Bhagwabasa, your campsite for the night.

Stay: Camping at Bhagwabasa (14,150 ft)

Day 4 – Bhagwabasa – Roopkund – Junargali Pass – Shila Samudra (12 km, 8–9 hrs)

Begin climbing to Roopkund, which takes about three hours. The climb is steady, but the last stretch is a steep climb for about an hour. You will then cross Junargali Pass, which requires much more energy as you have to walk up against a steep wall of hard snow.

Use ropes and ice axes to ensure safety. After reaching the top of the pass (over 16,000 ft), enjoy the magnificent view from 5,150 meters above. From there, start descending to Shila Samudra. The descent is sharp for about 2 hours.

Stay: Camping at Shila Samudra (16,930 ft)

Day 5 – Shila Samudra to Dodang (8 km, 5 hrs)

Today's route follows the Nandakini River. The gradual climb can be slippery at some points. The campsite at Dodang is marked by a huge boulder forming a natural cave.

Stay: Camping at Dodang (14,400 ft)

Day 6 – Dodang – Homkund – Ronti Saddle Summit – Dodang (10 km, 5–6 hrs)

Start early today and climb through some sharp ridges to reach Homkund, a small high-altitude glacial lake mostly under snow. Continue from there to conquer another set of steep snowy trails to reach Ronti Saddle.

The initial scrambles and walk over the boulders for about 2 kilometers, then the zig zags through the snowfield will take about 2 hours of steep and strenuous climb from Homkund to reach Ronti Saddle.

From Ronti Saddle, you can witness Ronti Peaks 1, 2, Trishul 1, 2, 3, Nanda Ghunti, and Dronagiri — they look absolutely amazing. Later, descend the same route back to Dodang.

Stay: Camping at Dodang

Day 7 – Dodang – Chandaniya Ghat – Lata Khopri (16 km, 6 hrs)

Today's trek includes a river crossing. Once you are done with the river crossing, it's easy to reach the campsite at Lata Khopri, which is a beautiful campsite nestled deep within the jungle.

Stay: Camping at Lata Khopri (10,140 ft)

Day 8 – Lata Khopri to Sutol Village (12 km, 4–6 hrs)

The descent down to Sutol will take you through lush green forests. Sutol is a beautiful village with a temple, shops, and a few houses. It's a moderate trek after which you will get to see locals, houses, rivers, bridges, temples, domestic animals, and you can indulge in conversations with the locals.

Stay: Guesthouse/Homestay in Sutol Village

Day 9 – Sutol Village to Dehradun (282 km, 9–10 hrs)

After breakfast, get a drive to Haridwar/Dehradun via the sacred river confluences at Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag. This scenic drive allows you to reflect on the entire trek, reminiscing the high-altitude lakes, alpine meadows, and Himalayan peaks experienced over the past days.

By evening, you will reach Dehradun, where the trek concludes.
