At an altitude of 12,000 ft., the trek offers a panoramic 360-degree view of the Garhwal Himalayas: JAONLI, GANGOTRI, JOGIN, BHARTE KHUNTA, KEDARNATH, KEDAR DOME, SUMERU PARBAT, CHAUKHAMBA, NEELKANTH, KAMET, HATHI-GHORI PARBAT, DUNAGIRI, TRISUL, NANDAGHUGATI, and MIRGTHANI.

This trek is best for beginners who want to start trekking in the Himalayas, and for those who want to trek with family. Once you see the beauty of this trek, you will completely lose yourself in nature. The trail passes through oak and rhododendron forests, small streams, and beautiful meadows.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Dehradun to Wan Village (315 km, 9–10 hrs, 8,200 ft)

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Wan Village, covering around 315 km in 9–10 hours. The route passes through Rishikesh, Karnaprayag, and Lohajung, offering mesmerizing views of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers, terraced fields, and charming mountain villages. On arrival at Wan, check into a guesthouse or campsite and relax after the long drive.

Stay: Guesthouse/Campsite in Wan Village

Day 2 – Wan Village to Suneli Dhar (6 km, 5 hrs, 9,400 ft)

After breakfast, begin your trek from Wan Village towards Suneli Dhar. The trail gradually ascends through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests. You will pass through small streams and meadows that make the walk scenic and enjoyable. By afternoon, you'll reach Suneli Dhar, a peaceful campsite with stunning mountain views.

Stay: Camping at Suneli Dhar

Day 3 – Suneli Dhar to Monal Top Summit & return to Kukina Khal (9 km, 5–6 hrs, 12,100 ft)

Today is the summit day! After an early breakfast, begin your steady climb to Monal Top. The summit offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Garhwal Himalayas, including Mt. Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and many others. After spending time at the top, descend to Kukina Khal for an overnight stay.

Stay: Camping at Kukina Khal

Day 4 – Kukina Khal to Wan Village (6 km, 3–4 hrs)

After breakfast, begin your easy descent from Kukina Khal back to Wan Village. The trail passes through forests and meadows, offering beautiful views of the surrounding valleys. By afternoon, you'll reach Wan Village and check into a guesthouse or campsite.

Stay: Guesthouse/Campsite in Wan Village

Day 5 – Wan Village to Dehradun (315 km, 9–10 hrs)

After breakfast, bid farewell to Wan Village and start your return journey to Dehradun. Enjoy the changing views of the Himalayan foothills and river valleys. You will reach Dehradun by evening, where the trek concludes.

End of Trek. Return with wonderful memories of the beautiful Monal Top!
